It’s all a grand exhale isn’t it. It’s a story that we read and create. Our own, others’ and the collective. Even then it is divided into sections, genres, time periods, patterns, waves, and admission.
I think we have done an exceptional job in the design of the siloed life: confined, virtual, envious, grifting, and forever misinformed.
The perfect set up for people to capitalize on: the manipulation of the story to convince you that you are broken and you need them. They have the key. They have somehow solved your problems, or THE problem.
And they no longer live under the bridge. Front and centre on the plasma stage, professing their “dirty secrets” so that they can save you.
I abhor these people, these groups, these outcroppings of liars - that is exactly what they are, people who have a yearning to be a part of something but have no idea how to, so they exploit.
Ok, I got that off my chest. You know the scene is not changing online, it’s getting worse and even more ridiculous. I have to believe that not a lot of people believe them, it’s only a small percentage that is then filled in with the anonymous and the bots to make it look more grand - an illusion.
So here goes, a bit of sharing from my ordinary world, in no particular order:
I finally hooked up my patio lights to a timer/app that my mom bought me over a year ago. I fought with it a bit, and voilà, from 8:30pm to 11:59pm my patio shines bright adding to the illumination of this world.
I take my coffee black, but today I added a bit of creamer - summertime fun.
I burn incense outside on my patio, a small way that I create an oasis among an urban funny farm.
There was a shift in the air last night, did you feel it?
All day yesterday my husband and I talked about the rhythm that comes from the earth and that is found in everything. Unseen you may call it intuition or even god. It’s mathematical, it’s patterned, it’s healing, and drives everything. It is a current. Persistent and reliable.
I am wearing a sunscreen serum on my face, it’s divine.
I will endeavour to drink more iced coffee based tonics this season. I had the most yummy creation from my pal Manfred at Roam Cafe. Go there. Order it. Tell him I said hi.
Oh, so I went to a writing event a couple of weeks ago, at the above mention cafe. Hosted by friends. A glorious space. I tried. But groups are not my jam. My writing comes to me like one would describe channeling. So I wrote a few things including a poem and then did some work. The time was well spent. But I prefer my patio, my kitchen, and solo writing anywhere else.
Music. Always Music. I usually put on a mix, a playlist I have created or I devour an entire album over and over again. Confession - I love Harry Styles.
And finally - there is so much fuckery in this world. SO MUCH. It’s dark and deep. It’s disturbing and vile. It’s dangerous and Insidious. HOWEVER - I chose to have that running and often on pause in the background. I cannot live my life knowing that is all this world is. Because it’s not. There needs to be an opposing force and that is hope. Always hope.
May you find yourself caught in the opposing force of love and hope. May you know lightness in times of darkness; may you seek community when your light begins to dim. May you seek refuge in kindness. May you be the smile that someone needs today.
I love you.
